Dawson Place is a one-of-a-kind Child Advocacy Center that helps children who have suffered from physical abuse and sexual harassment, and their non-offending family members. What makes Dawson Place unique in Washington State is its multidisciplinary network of agencies and services that come together under one roof:
The center offers a place for law enforcement and other agencies to come together to address individual cases, which allows affected families to come to one go-to spot instead of having to visit dozens of different places in an attempt to find justice and treatment.
Child Interview Specialists, representatives from the Providence Intervention Center of Assault and Abuse, mental health therapists from the Compass Health Child Advocacy Program, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Special Investigation Unit, as well as representatives from the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and Department of Social and Health Services come together to provide guidance and support in the long process of healing and hope.
From the child-friendly atmosphere, specially trained service dogs who help comfort distraught kids, to the highly educated personnel and sensitive procedure, Dawson Place has put great thought into making this resource a place that is safe, comforting and helpful to affected children and families.
