Did you know that March is Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Month? What better month could there be to feature the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation as our “Charity of the Month!”  YOU can help support the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation this month with our Pay It Forward Referral Rewards Program”! It’s as easy as 1-2-3:

1. Refer a Friend to us for an Insurance Review
2. Receive a $25 Costco Gas Card as a personal ‘Thank You’ from us to you
3. We will make a $10 donation to the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation for each referral we receive during the month of March.

To provide you with more information about the Foundation, we contacted the Foundation’s Executive Director, Ms. Angelique Leone, for a quick interview:

1.      The Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation helps support local public libraries with private donations.  What projects are you most excited about in 2013?

This year, Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation has pledged more than $100,000 to support early literacy.  Funding for programs will include enhancing children’s areas within libraries to keep children interacting for longer periods of time and expanding opportunities for learning; offering new opportunities for structured play – one of the best ways to teach language and literacy skills — both onsite and at outreach events; and other programs and services that help children learn the skills needed to become readers.  With a solid early literacy foundation, children enter school ready and eager to learn.  We are also creating new school-aged programs, building a community of children who not only read at grade level, but read for enjoyment, sport, information, research and experimentation.  Eight to 12 year olds will experience literature-related programs that encourage the acquisition of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) skills, use of non-fiction literature, as well as promote age-related outstanding fiction.

2.      If you had one word to describe the Foundation’s motto for 2013, what would it be?

READ!

3.      What three books do you recommend that every American should read?

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

Oh, The Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss

4.      What are you currently reading?

The Dark Room by Rachel Seiffert

5.      E-Reader or Hard Copy?

My current read is hard copy…but I do both!
