Help is Needed

The earthquake in Haiti (and today’s terrible aftershock) was a devastating reminder that quakes can happen anywhere, anytime, and with most horrid consequences.  Our hearts go out to the survivors who lost family members – mothers, fathers, sons and daughters.  Survivors who lost their homes and all their belongings.  People whose lives will never be the same again.

It only took a few seconds for the quake to destroy a whole city.  It will take many years to restore anything that resembles normalcy in the country of Haiti.

We at McClain Insurance Services would like to help, and we’d like to pick up on an idea started by some of our fellow bloggers:  Please help us help Haiti!

Leave a comment to this blog – for each comment, we will make a $2 donation (up to $500) to the American Red Cross in support of Haiti.

Please let the earthquake in Haiti be a lesson for all of us!  We live in a high-risk area for earthquakes, too!  Please follow the advice of the agencies and be prepared.  Practice an emergency plan with your family.  Build an emergency kit.  And teach each family member what to do and how to behave when an earthquake strikes.

An article in the Herald from Sunday, Januray 17th tells us why:  Remembering her earthquake training from school days saved this Arlington native’s life in the Haiti earthquake.

Please be prepared.  Please be safe.
